How to build a successful blog. Part 1: TOPIC

Thinking about beginning a blog, but don’t know where to start? Or do you already have a blog that isn’t doing as well as you wish it was?

There is an endless wealth of information on the internet about how to build a successful blog, but it’s a tedious job going through it all and figuring out where to start, which tips apply to you, and whether or not the “tricks” will actually work.

Don’t worry, though, because Webs is here to help! You can add a blog app to your Webs site with a single click (choose “Blog” in the). A blog’s role on your website is to be the place where you share your thoughts, news, and updates.

Secondly, we did the research for you and boiled down all of that information into 4 basic components to a successful blog: topic, design, content, and networking.

Without further ado, let’s delve a bit deeper into each component to help you make sense of the wonderful world of blogging.

The topic is arguably the most important component of a blog. It is not only the core of what your blog will be about, but it also influences all of the other components. Here are some helpful tips for choosing a theme or topic:

    1. Choose a topic you are passionate about.

It’s important to pick a topic that you know a lot about and you have strong feelings or opinions about. Not only does this make for more interesting posts, but it also makes it easier to write in the long run since you will be writing a lot on the topic.

  1. Choose a specific topic. It’s easier to start off small than trying to compete with larger blogs. Build yourself a small–but loyal and strong–base before thinking big. For example, if you are thinking about making a blog about arts and crafts, you may want to start off with a smaller subset of arts and crafts, like knitting or, even better, knitting children’s clothes.
  2. Watch out for fads. You might want to think twice about starting a blog about the latest band or TV show. The popularity of these topics may be fleeting and people may forget about it all together. Make sure your topic has staying power. If you still want to post about a trend or fad you noticed, try writing your blog post from a new angle to get the attention it deserves.

Take today to think of an awesome topic and tomorrow we will move on to the next component on what it takes to build a successful blog.

Happy Thinking!
